Vintage Love: The Brownstone Apartment

My all-time favorite vintage interior design is in the 1998 movie "You've Got Mail"- Kathleen Kelly's {played by Meg Ryan} brownstone apartment in New York City. This spacious studio apartment houses everything I love in a home- cottage furniture and distressed pieces, floral prints, framed art, and many vintage items that spells cozy.

This romantic comedy, that also stars Tom Hanks, is also one of my favorite all-time feel-good movie {another one is
"Something's Got To Give"}. Who really is not charmed by the Tom Hanks-Meg Ryan pair?
The building's architectural facade is already a beauty by itself.
I love the charming windows with flower beds and the architectural details in every corner. And of course, having Tom Hanks on my doorstep can only be heaven.
The trim and wall moldings, hanged floral prints, stained glass window, {I see a wire basket perfect for mail}, all work for a warm welcome in this foyer.
I just love the sofa in vintage floral print with lots of pillows for a cozy curl. And the windows with sheer curtains {a Laura Ashley?} is very romantic.

And of course, this is where the heart of the story happens- the internet. For my love of the desk, this is so inspiring- pretty fresh flowers, pen holder, books, and the lamp. The shelves, actually filled with books,  makes the space so cozy.
This is the perfect view of the living room and the desk.
The entrance to the kitchen is through brown French doors that I adore. This is when I say that vintage chaos in the kitchen is totally beautiful.
My favorite scene in the movie is this kitchen with all the vintages pieces I love- distressed table, a basket, an old enamel bread container, and all charming accessories by the window sill. Love love love this window.

Another view of the kitchen. And daisies! Never really noticed how pretty they are until this movie.

A small wall gallery, flowers in a pretty vase, vintage buffet hutch with lovely plates and teacups.... {love Greg Kinnear, too}.....

Kathleen's bedroom has everything I love { as the rest of house}- cottage quilt, distressed bedside cabinet topped by photos, flowers, and a vintage lamp.
A reading chair, the dresser, the bay window seat....

I happen to love her PJ's too.

Vintage love...that is how the story always ends for me.
